Virtual Reality Simulation

Overview

"My graduation project involved developing a VR simulation that used IMU sensors to track and represent limbs in real time. The project aimed to create a digital avatar that could provide users with rehabilitation data, eliminating the need for them to physically visit a clinic for treatment."

Innovative VR Rehabilitation Solution Using IMU Sensors

Concept and Design:
For my graduation project, I developed an immersive virtual reality (VR) experience that utilized IMU sensors to track and represent users' limb movements. The project aimed to provide a virtual rehabilitation platform, allowing users to receive real-time feedback through a digital avatar, eliminating the need for in-person therapy sessions.

Development Features:

  • VR Environment Design: Created a fully immersive virtual environment where users could interact with a digital avatar to monitor and assess their rehabilitation progress.

  • IMU Sensor Integration: Integrated IMU sensors to accurately track limb movements, enabling the digital avatar to mirror user actions in real-time, ensuring precise feedback for rehabilitation exercises.

  • Data-Driven User Interface: Designed an intuitive interface to display real-time data from the sensors, providing users with clear insights into their performance and progress during the rehabilitation process.

Impact and Outcome:

  • Remote Rehabilitation: The VR simulation allowed users to engage in rehabilitation exercises from the comfort of their own homes, reducing the need for frequent clinic visits and making therapy more accessible.

  • Real-Time Feedback: Users received immediate feedback on their movements and progress, enabling them to adjust their actions and improve their rehabilitation without the guidance of a therapist.

  • Enhanced Patient Experience: The project improved the overall rehabilitation experience by making it more engaging and personalized, with a focus on user interaction and data visualization.

Results and Reception:
The VR rehabilitation solution successfully demonstrated the potential of immersive technology to transform the rehabilitation process. By integrating IMU sensor data with real-time virtual feedback, I was able to create a tool that not only provided valuable insights but also eliminated barriers to traditional rehabilitation methods. The project received positive feedback for its innovative approach and practical application, showcasing the potential of VR in healthcare.
